Dog bites toddler

A TERRIFIED toddler has been bitten by a dog in Bognor Regis.

The attack on the three-year-old boy in King’s Parade happened at 3pm on Monday when the dog ran on to the pavement.

Believed to be a cream-coloured Staffordshire Terrier, it jumped up and bit the boy on his chest. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

A man with another dog of the same breed collected the original dog and he and a woman, pictured right, walked away from the path.

Sergeant Matthew Phelps, of Sussex Police’s Arun and Chichester prevention team, said: “The boy has been left very traumatised by this incident and we are providing support to the family.

“We believe the woman in the picture is the owner of the dog in question and we would like to speak to her about the matter.”

She is white, 5ft 4in, stockily built, and in her late 50s. The man is white, tall and skinny.

The attack is the second by a dog in the area in three months. In May, the Post reported how a chihuahau belonging to Aldwick couple Brian and Hazel Goldsmith was killed in West Park by another dog.
