TEA and cakes proved a tasty fundraiser when a Bognor Regis supporter held the town’s opening event in an annual campaign.
Chris Scott staged the first part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s world’s biggest coffee morning last week.
She hopes the tasty occasion will have matched the £300 she raised at her previous event two years ago.
Lip-smacking tasty treats and thirst-quenching brews were on the menu at her house in Parklands Avenue. They were enjoyed by 30 friends who were keen to support the good cause.
“Everybody has been touched by cancer in their family and with their friends,” said Chris, 66.
“Macmillan just offers such a wonderful service.
“Hosting a coffee morning is a lovely fun way to raise money for the charity and have a chat at the same time.”
All those who attended the occasion took cakes along. Kind-hearted backers also provided 30 prizes to create an attractive raffle to help to boost the takings.
Macmillan encourages people to hold the coffee mornings each September. Several take place around Bognor Regis annually. Two are already advertised on the charity’s website for this year. These are Steph and Heidi’s event at 11am on September 30 at 8 Tamarisk Close in North Bersted.
Yeoman’s Honda will host a morning at 9am on September 26 at its Chichester Road dealership.
