DJ and Geffen inspire win

DANIEL Joseph took four for 72 from 20 overs to help Chichester Priory Park 1st XI beat Haywards Heath by four wickets.

 

Matthew Geffen was in fine form, too, and took three for 54 from 14 overs in this Sussex Premier League 1st XI Division 3 fixture at Priory Park.

 

The home side elected to field and the visitors, who scored 204 for 8 (53 overs).

 

In reply, Chichester eclipsed that score in 45 overs when they reached 205 for 6, with Sam Harvey top scoring with 61no. George Stephens hit 41, Peter Lamb scored 39 and Ben Caldera struck 26 to hand the home side victory.

 

Chichester Priory Park 3rd XI secured promotion at Wisborough Green 2nd XI with a seven-wicket victory.

 

The visitors chose to field in this West Sussex Invitation League Division 6 encounter and the home side reached 116 all out (36.2 overs).Chichester’s Oliver Reynolds recorded remarkable figures of 4-5 before the reply of 117 for 3 (22 overs).

 

Alex Pendle hit 50no, Graeme Bennison contributed with a knock of 27, and Harry Randell hit 23no. Richard Hancocks was in form as Chichester Priory Park 2nd XI enjoyed a 38-run win at Worthing in Premier League 2nd XI Division 2.

 

Hancocks hit 54 to help the visitors to a total of 237 for 8 dec (49 overs) after Worthing elected to field. Matthew Bennison top scored with 72no and Robert Carver struck 42 before Worthing got 199 all out (48.3 overs), an innings in which Hancocks took five wickets for 54 runs. Stirlands 1st XI earned a draw at Rottingdean in a rain affected match in Sussex Premier League 1st XI Division 4.

 

Rottingdean elected to bat and scored 203 for 9 dec. in 40.4 overs with Henry Ledden getting 66 and George Briance taking 5 for 48.

 

In reply Stirlands scored 100 for 8 in 47 overs. Ledden took 5 for 27. Selsey 1st XI lost by four wickets at St Andrews (Burgess Hill) in West Sussex Invitation League Division 2. The visitors batted and Nick Nolan top scored with 59 and Tom Amis hit 36 as they scored 204 for 5 (49 overs).

 

The home side reached 206 for 6 (37.2 overs) with Tom Cripps three for 67 and Peter Horner two for 47. West Wittering 1st XI lost by 28 runs at ten-men Belgrave Adelaide in W. Sussex Invitation League Div 3.

 

The fielded and the hosts scored 165 all out (48 overs) with Joe Pink 4-37. West Wittering, in reply, reached 165 all out (48 overs) with Gareth Lendrum scoring 62, and Jack Allsobrook hitting 36.
