T20 final loss means misery for Middleton

MIDDLETON suffered defeat against Horsham in the final of Sussex Premier League Gray-Nicolls T20 Cup at Hove.

 

Horsham won the toss and batted and scored 161 for 5. Middleton’s Jamie Thompson took three wickets in four balls to help the cause but in reply his side fell short in reaching 108 for 9 they lost by 53 runs.

 

Team: S Heather, W Burrows, B Hemingway, B Ferbache, P Colvin, M Reynolds, B Hanley, W Searle, J Thompson, K Shoulders. The previous day, Middleton 1st XI were at Three Bridges for a clash in the Sussex Premier League 1st XI Division 2 only to see the action reduced to a T20.

 

Middleton elected to field and the home side scored 114 for 8 (20 overs). And they came up against Sean Heather in fine form as he took 3-13 and then scored 88no as the visitors 118 for 2 (13.3 overs) Middleton 2nd XI beat Goring By Sea CC by nine wickets in Sussex Premier League 2nd XI Division 2. Middleton won the toss and elected to field and Keelan Shoulders recorded figures of 5-39, as the visitors scored 104 all out (31 overs). In reply, Middleton hit 108 for 1 (14.3 overs) with Stuart Nelmes on 55no.

 

Bognor Regis 1st XI drew at Eastbourne in ussex Premier League 1st XI Division 2.Eastbourne won the toss and elected to bat and scored 219 for 8 (53 overs) with Robert Willway taking 3 for 58 off 14 overs. in reply the visitors scored 202 for 8 (47 overs) and Max Ashmore top scored with 78 off 128 balls. Ryan Maskell hit 56 from 38.

 

Bognor Regis 2nd XI beat Southwater by eight wickets in Sussex Premier League 2nd XI Division 3 (West). The hosts won the toss and elected to field and reduced Southwester to 149 all out (37.1 overs) with Dan Winslow on figures of 4-30.In reply Bognor hit 151 for 2 (23.2 overs) with Josh Broad 74no.

 

Pagham 1st XI lost by 206 runs to Ansty in Sussex Premier League 1st XI Division 2. Pagham won the toss and elected to field and the visitors scored 229 for 9 dec (52 overs) with Peter Cotterill taking 5 for 79.

 

For Ansty, Jake Wilson 70 and Glen Anson 54 shared an unbroken 10th wicket partnership of 134. In the Pagham innings, Jake Wilson took 6 for seven and Jethro Menzies 4 for 3as the hosts were 23 all out (9.4 overs) . Pagham 2nd XI lost by nine wickets at Mayfield in Sussex Premier League 2nd XI Division 2.

 

Pagham elected to bat and were 106 all out (33.4 overs) with Danny Berkley top scoring with 40. Mayfield scored 108 for 1 (18.2 overs) with David Brown taking the wickets.
