Police pursuit is successful

A POLICE pursuit ended without serious incident after a car was brought to a halt and a man arrested in Bognor Regis last Saturday.


The suspect was seen driving a black Ford Focus alleged to have been stolen in the town a few hours earlier The black Ford Focus was said to have been taken during an alleged burglary in Edinburgh Close at some time during the night before.


It was located in the town around 2.30pm and brought to a standstill a few minutes later in Lyon Street West, pictured above, after police claimed the vehicle failed to stop for them. A police car and the Focus were damaged in the incident, but nobody was injured.


Adam Hume, 50, unemployed of Lyon Street West, Bognor Regis, has been charged with aggravated burglary, two counts of burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, driving without third party insurance and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence.


He appeared before Crawley magistrates on Monday where he was remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on October 3.
