David Yates, the director responsible for the final four films in the Potter series, has returned to unleash Rowling’s wondrous beasts upon the big screen and elaborate on Newt’s amazing exploits.
The story takes place in New York City. The year is 1926. Our unlikely hero has travelled the world, procuring its most unusual, extraordinary, and perhaps dangerous magical creatures, and cramming them inside the surprisingly roomy confines of his suitcase.
On a brief stop in the Big Apple, things quickly spiral out of control and Newt’s collection is let loose, sparking panic amongst both the magical and No-Maj (American Muggle) community.
Newt quickly finds a group of witch and wizard comrades to help him round-up the contents of his case; however, what the No-Majs call “witchcraft” is far from welcome on New York’s streets, and division runs rife between the two uneasy communities. As rival leaders rally their forces, the threat of a deadly civil war looms.
