BEAUTY and The Beast will be the theme of this year’s festive lights display in Bognor Regis.
The town’s big switch on will take place on November 26 – and the occasion promises to be a memorable one.
Bognor Regis Town Council officials are hoping the weather is kinder to them than last year. Storms caused the celebrations to be cancelled at the last minute.
But those behind this year’s event have planned their packed programme to make up for that disappoinment.
The events in the town centre begin at 1pm and last until 6pm. The lights will go on about 5.30pm.
Six confetti cannons full of rose petals will provide a memorable spectacle to rival the shining illuminations.
Town council events officer Kirsten Fitzpatrick said: “There will be choirs and brass bands playing in London Road throughout the afternoon, classical music in The Arcade and, possibly, a sprinkling of snow.
“The cast of the Spillers pantomime showing at the Alexandra Theatre will be with us on the day.
“They will be performing live, helping to switch on the lights and judging the fancy dress competition.”
Father Christmas, of course, will also be present. Live music playing on the main stage from 1pm will include the Ultimate Gary Barlow Experience, Cheryl Craven and Anna Foye, on behalf of Rox Music and Arts.
DJ Nic Dunnaway will be on hand all day with some festive mixes to represent Bognorphenia and fill any gaps in the lovely live sounds. Noble Jacks will provide upbeat folksy footstompin’ rhythms.
