Selsey hit for five in defeat

Selsey were brought crashing down to earth after a drubbing at home to Langney Wanderes in the SCFL Division One.

Confidence was high at the Bunn Leisure Stadium after the Blues, pictured above, had gone four league games undefeated.

But the visiting side from Eastbourne scored five second half goals – including a seven minute hat-trick for Nathan Crabb – to condemn Selsey to defeat in front of their home fans. The Blues have an immediate opportunity to get back on track, hosting Seaford Town tomorrow (3pm).

The visitors have struggled in recent weeks and currently sit four places and five points behind Selsey.

Steve Bailey’s side know that a win could take them back into the top half of the table.

Elsewhere, and Nyetimber Pirates continued their unbeaten start to the West Sussex Premier season with a 2-1 win against Holbrook thanks to a late Michael Frangou strike.

They will be looking to continue their run hosting Newtown Villa tomorrow (2pm)

In the same competition, Bognor-based Predators will be looking to follow up last week’s 2-0 home win against Petworth when they welcome Rogate  to Longbrook Pavilion (2pm).

Predators have already won the reverse fixture 3-1 last month
