January 25-February 4
Chichester Festival Theatre
With an award winning team of cast and crew at the helm, this revival of Ronald Harwood’s The Dresser is set to have audiences laughing non-stop.
Fresh from a successful run at the Duke of York’s Theatre in London’s West End this production is coming to the Chichester Festival Theatre for just 14 performances.
The Dresser follows the interactions between Sir, one of the last true Shakespearean actors, and his faithful dresser Norman as Sir struggles to rally together another great performance. As part of a touring Shakespeare company travelling war-torn Britain in 1942 the duo must survive yet another traumatic day of theatre if Sir is ever going to regain his former glory.
Audiences of The Dresser will not only be watching the events of this tragicomedy unfold but will play the part of the 1942 audience braving a Luftwaffe bombing raid to watch a production of King Lear, put on by Sir and his troupe.
Led by the renowned acting talents of Ken Stott and Reece Shearsmith in the lead roles this production of The Dresser promises to not only provide plenty of laughs but to paint a honest portrait of the bygone life of a theatrical star.
Tickets range from £8.50-£35.
