Lennie runs for a month for charity

KIND-HEARTED Lennie McCormack is running every day around Bognor Regis this month for charity.

Lennie, aged seven, is completing 2km a time to raise money to buy toys and equipment for the children and staff on the children’s ward at St Richard’s Hospital.

He wanted to give something back to Howard Ward after he had spent some time as a patient there.

He said: “It’s fun, it’s definitely fun and I really like going to new places to run different routes.”

“Sometimes it’s hard but it’s still really fun because I love running”

“When I was in hospital, I thought it would be a good idea to get the children some toys. They have got lots but they still need more. The nurses were really nice to me when I was poorly and the doctors were really funny.”

Lennie has always had a love for running and enjoys attending the weekly junior parkrun which began in Bognor Regis earlier this year.

He recently completed his 11th of the weekly events and earned his half marathon certificate. This activity inspired him to organise his daily runs to raise funds. A keen mathematician, he worked out he will have completed a total of 38.5 miles by the end of the month.

All the donations he receives will buy items on the ward’s wish list. He can be sponsored at crowdfunding/justgiving.com:443/Lennie-mccormack.
