Ray congratulated about his honour

CONGRATULATONS have been given to Pagham Parish Council’s chairman for his honour from the Queen.

His fellow councillors took the chance at their first meeting since Cllr Ray Radmall’s BEM was announced to praise him for the effort he had put into the community.

A round of applause greeted Cllr Radmall, below, at the start of last Tuesday’s meeting of the parish council’s planning committee.

Cllr Radmall said: “A lot of people have come before me from this community to work for the community. This medal is for the community as much as it is for me.”

But Cllr Phil Higson said: “You would not have got this medal if you had not put all the effort into your council work.”

Cllr David Huntley said: “You are being modest about your efforts.”

As reported, Cllr Radmall received his BEM in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List last month. It was awarded for his commitment to Pagham in 25 years on the parish council as well as for Pagham Beach residents. He has lived in the area for more than 40 years.
