BOGNOR’S pre-season friendly against Portsmouth is back on – with the League One side visiting Nyewood Lane tomorrow (Saturday, 1.30pm).
Rocks’ officials pulled the plug on the showcase match against the professional outfit last month after new Pompey manager Kenny Jackett indicated he would not be sending a full-strength team to the match.
But, after the Fratton Park side’s would-be opponents, Eastleigh, cancelled their friendly due to concerns over the state of the pitch, Bognor duly stepped in.
A crowd of more than 2,000 people is expected to attend the hastily-arranged fixture which will help boost the club’s coffers ahead of the new National League South season.
A spokesman for the club said: “Pompey have assured us that they will be fielding their strongest starting 11.”
Admission is £10 adults, £5 for under 18s.
The Rocks began their pre-season preparation with a comfortable 4-0 win over Worthing on Saturday.
Their scheduled return to action tonight at SCFL Premier side Chichester City has been postponed and rescheduled to Wednesday.
