The SEASON may only be two weeks old but already Rocks fans will be facing a familiar dilemma at Nyewood Lane.
After the side picked up four injuries in Tuesday night’s 6-2 win over Whitehawk, Bognor’s small squad is set to be tested to the full in tomorrow’s home match against Weston-Super-Mare.
The task is made even harder after the departure of experienced centre half Gary Charman, who also served as an assistant manager. The man known as ‘Zorro’ was well-regarded around the club, both inside and outside of the dressing room. But the lure of regular first team football and being re-united with former Rocks’ boss Jamie Howell at Eastbourne Borough was too good to turn down.
Bognor manager Jack Pearce was clear on his thoughts He said: “We didn’t want to lose Gary Charman. In a perfect world we would be keeping him but at his age he wants to be playing regularly and he wouldn’t have got as much game time as he wanted when all four centre halves were fit.
“He has been an excellent player for the club – he’s done really well and I’m as disappointed as anyone to lose him.”.
