New homes handover

FAMILIES in need of homes will soon be moving into new council houses in Bognor Regis town centre.

The two four-bedroomed houses will be added to Arun District Counci’s housing stock and let to people on its housing waiting list.

They will help to replace some of the homes which the council has sold under Right to Buy.

Cllr Trevor Bence, Arun’s cabinet member for residential services, said: “This is the second release of council houses being built in Arun in 28 years and continues the programme to see 33 new homes added to the council’s property portfolio over the next two years.

“I am delighted that this development is now complete and ready to provide homes for Arun residents.”

Cllr Bence, pictured below second left, was joined at the handover by Craig Durman, the head of housing at Brymor Group, Arun’s director of services Philippa Dart, Brian Pople, the group head of residential services at the council and its chief executive, Nigel Lynn.

The properties are sited off Clarence Road, close to the Glenlogie property, and were built by Brymor Construction.

Mr Durman said: “The complex nature of the site demonstrates the district council’s promise to provide modern living accommodation for now and in the future.

“The design of the units maximises the available land for development and the high-quality finish is testament to the commitment of the management team here at Brymor, and also that of our supply chain partners.”

Hastoe Housing Association development manager Javed Ditta, who acted as the council’s development agent, said: “Hastoe are delighted to have helped play a role in delivering these new high quality, affordable homes for the people who need them most.”

The council has more than 1,000 applicants in the highest categories for new homes on its waiting list for housing.
