The ROCKS’ long-term search for a towering frontman seems to have ended with the capture of Icelandic youth international Stefan Ljubicic from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 18-year-old striker, who has played 14 times for his country’s Under 18 and Under 19 teams, scoring seven goals, has signed on loan at Nyewood Lane to the end of the campaign.
Standing at 6 feet 4 inches in height, he fills the void that manager Jack Pearce has been looking for in the last five months.
The hope is that fellow frontmen Jimmy Muitt and Ibra Sekajja will thrive playing off him, starting on Saturday at home to Truro City.
With Ugandan international Ibra Sekajja, Cayman Island Under 21 international Anthony Nelson, Richard Gilot from France and Egyptian Sami El-Abd, Stefan joins a multi national squad.
In other news, Manny Adebowale’s loan from Dover has been extended until April, which is welcome news following Sami El-Abd’s current injury.
Following Ljubicic’s signing, a club spokesman said: “We are extremely grateful to both Brighton and Dover and look forward to welcoming Stefan on Saturday.”
