WORSHIPPERS at a Bognor Regis church will be among the few in the country able to watch the live funeral of one of the most famous evangelists.
St Mary Magdalene Church is one of just a handful in the UK that is live- streaming the funeral of Billy Graham.
The screening will take place from 5pm tonight (Friday) at the Bersted Street church. Its vicar, the Rev Tim Crook, said many members of his congregation had reason to honour the American evangelist as they, or members of their family, came to faith through Billy Graham’s preaching.
“I’m not ashamed to say that ‘Big Billy’ has been one of my heroes.
“It is our privilege to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with his ministry.
“We attempt today to present the same straightforward and powerful life-transforming message of hope in the Lord Jesus that Dr Graham was famous for,” said Mr Crook.
Billy Graham died aged 99 last Wednesday. He became famous around the world after the Second World War and was considered one of the most influential preachers of the 20th century.
His funeral will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina, in the USA.
