Pagham are being urged to keep on fighting until the end of the season – despite a 3-0 loss to the league leaders leaving them adrift in the hunt for the SCFL crown.
A run of 15 league games unbeaten had seen the Lions go into the final month of the season within touching distance of the top of the table.
But Pagham lost out on the chance to leapfrog over leaders Haywards Heath when the top team inflicted a 3-0 defeat on them last weekend.
That away loss puts the team joint managed by Tom Simmonds and Richie Hellen four points off the pace with just three matches of the season to go.
With Three Bridges flying in second, even a place in the promotion places looks to be out of the Nyetimber Lane side’s grasp.
but there is still a chance of silverware with a local derby against Chichester City lined up for May 2 at Lancing’s Culver Road in the final of the RUR Charity Cup.
Before then, Pagham welcome Eastbourne Town to Nyetimber Lane tomorrow (3pm) looking for a win to keep on the pressure on the sides above them.
