Veterans have been urged to apply for their Veterans Badge in time for this year’s Armed Forces Day in Bognor Regis.
The latest commemoration of the men and women in the military will take place on June 16 in the Waterloo Square and pier area.
As usual, it will include a drumhead service, which will be followed by the presentation of the badges to those who would like to receive them in public.
One of the organisers, Sue Holmes, said: “Anyone who has served in any of the armed forces is entitled to receive a Veterans Badge.
“If you have not already received your badge, application forms can be obtained from the RAFA Club, Waterloo Square, or by emailing: email@example.com”
Popular Armed Forces Day has been moved from its usual staging on a Sunday to a Saturday this year.
The drumhead service has also been changed from its usual slot at the start of the day.
“The Armed Forces Day event will begin at 11am with stalls and displays in Waterloo Square Gardens and entertainment on the stage,” said Mrs Holmes.
“At 12.30pm, a parade of service and ex-service personnel and local cadet groups will take place from the bandstand to The Esplanade in front of the pier, where the drumhead service will take place.
“Further displays and entertainment will take place in the afternoon. A full programme will be available nearer the time.”
The day has taken place in Bognor Regis for about ten years – but it has always be held just before the official date towards the end of June.
Similar events are staged in towns and cities around the country. One centre is chosen for a national celebration.
