Former service personnel are invited to join in town parade

FORMER service personnel have been invited to take part in a parade at this month’s Armed Forces Day in Bognor Regis.

The parade of serving and veteran members of the forces, as well as cadet groups around the town, will be one of the highlights of the latest of the annual celebrations of the Armed Forces on June 16. Those in the parade will march off from the seafront bandstand at 12.30pm to the pier ready for a drumhead service at 1pm.

The event’s press officer, Sue Holmes, said: “This is a call to any ex-service personnel who would like to take part in this event.

“The Armed Forces Day committee would like to invite members of the public, who have previously served in any of the armed forces, to join in this parade and be part of our event.”

The day’s events will take place around the pier and Waterloo Square gardens. They will begin at 11am with stalls and displays and stage entertainment.

After the drumhead service, Veterans’ Badges will be presented and the HMS Barbara memorial stone in front of the pier will be re-dedicated. Further displays and entertainment will also take place.
