Team spirit – it is a much-vaunted quality that sports teams often claim to have but few actually do.
But when it comes to Bognor Regis Town Football Club, you do not have to look far to see that turning out in the white and green means an awful lot.
At this time of year, when players are deciding on their immediate futures there are many factors on the table. One thing that is common for all those who have signed for Bognor, is that playing for the team and the fans is a real selling point, particularly for those who have history with the club.
Even for teenager Tommy Block, who had offers from elsewhere, the midfielder was clear on his reasons to stay at Nyewood Lane.
Speaking to the club website, Block said: “One offer was for more money and at a higher level so it was tough to turn down but also easy to commit to Bognor.
“At my age I need to play as much as possible and I think I will get the opportunity to do that at Bognor. Despite being relegated last season, there are lots of positives at the club and I hope to continue to learn from Jack and Robbie Blake, who is coming in as coach. Plus, I just love playing for the Rocks fans.”
