ORGANISERS of Bognor Regis illuminations gala have begun the countdown to the annual event.
The night-time spectacle, pictured above, is due to light up the resort on August bank holiday Sunday and is often seen as the traditional end of the main summer season.
It might still seem early days for summer but the members of the team at Bognor Regis Seafront Lights which is planning the event are already looking ahead to the end of next month.
They have invited any club, society, charity, church, community interest company, business or individual who wants to take part in one of the town’s biggest crowd-pullers to start to think about their entries.
Lights chairman Jason Passingham said: “Last year’s crowd was unprecedented, helped by extensive advertising, which included a radio campaign.
“What better opportunity to not only get your group or business noticed by a huge captive audience, but also get involved in a real community event that helps to make Bognor Regis the brightest place to be?”
Categories include float or vehicle, walking group, pram or bicycle and dance troupe.
Cash and trophies are up for grabs for the entries placed first, second and third in each grouping.
Improvements to the seafront lighting will be funded by the gala.
