DELIGHTED Middleton runner Peter Chittenden is celebrating the success of his 80th birthday run for a hospice, pictured.
Peter held the athletic occasion in aid of Chestnut House Tree Hospice as a fitting way to mark his milestone while living with prostate cancer.
He said: “I shall be handing funds of around £1,000 to the hospice. It was a great day.
“I had 100 runners turn out and all finished with no injuries. Everyone enjoyed the run and course and the bespoke medal they received.
“There were also another eight runners who did a virtual run where they live.”
Peter took part along most of the circular route from Arundel Cricket Club.
“So many people have helped me get this run started and put together. I did not think I had so many wonderful friends,” he said.
Peter’s birthday was in mid-January but he decided to hold the run in the summer so conditions were better.
