RELATIVES of Aldwick residents who fought in the First World War will be recalled in a poignant ceremony.
Aldwick Parish Council is seeking the names of the servicemen to make its Remembrance Day service at its millennium gardens off Pryors Lane on November 11 a fitting occasion.
A spokesman said: “Aldwick will be joining the country in remembering all those members of our armed forces who served, particularly those born locally.
“This year, though, we are marking Armistice Day in a special way. We will be paying tribute to those predecessors of the current residents of Aldwick who took part in the First World War in a recitation of their names. The ‘naming of names’ is expected to be a profoundly moving occasion and will help to ensure your relative’s contribution is never forgotten.”
The recitation marks the centenary of the war’s end. Aldwick residents should contact: firstname.lastname@example.org or 01243 263330 with their relative’s name and the service in which they were enlisted in 1914-18.
