New building sought by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars at its site

ROLLS-ROYCE Motor Cars wants to construct a new building at its Bognor Regis site.

The luxury car manufacturer has applied for planning permission for the temporary logistics building and ancillary works, including service area, at the site if its technology and logistics centre in Newlands Road.

The company intends to use the temporary building, if it is approved, until the end of 2023.

A statement by Charlie Brown, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ planning agent, says: “The proposed development will make more productive and formalised use of an underused area of hardstanding on the existing site.

“The proposed development is also in accordance with local planning policy, being employment development on a strategic employment site.”

The centre was constructed in 2014 and 2015 and consists of two units which opened in early 2016.

The area which is the subject of the planning application is next to Unit One. The site provides significant storage capacity for stock and parts to make what Mr Brown describes as a ‘critical contribution’ to the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ base in Goodwood.
