MOVE over Movember – Christopher Best is fundraising his way.
The 11th month of the year has recently been adopted by the Movement Foundation to encourage men to be sponsored to grow beards and raise money for men’s health research.
But council planning officer Christopher, pictured above, is shaving off his beard instead.
The deed will be carried out today and Christopher is hoping to raise £500 – £100 for each year he has had his beard.
He said: “This is really a big deal for me as I have literally grown very attached to my beard.
“Originally, the plan was to grow it out for an entire year without trimming, which I achieved, though I couldn’t bring myself to trim it until month 15.
“Since then, I have kept it trimmed regularly at various lengths and shapes.
“Growing a beard for a substantial amount of time really is a ‘journey’. During this time, it allows you to see how friends and family feel about the decisions you make and whether they react postively and support you or are, instead, totally negative.”
Christopher, 28, deals with Bognor Regis planning work for Arun District Council in its Littlehampton offices.
