A CONSULTANT general and vascular surgeon at Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is to become a Visiting Professor at the University of Chichester.
Director of medical education David Beattie, who has a national overview of health care training and research at all professional and vocational levels, will be active in the university’s Centre for Research, Development and Workforce.
The recently-established centre, which sits in the university’s Institute of Education, Health, and Social Care, acts as a hub for research, applied research, knowledge transfer, and continuing professional development activity.
David said: “The University of Chichester and Western Sussex Hospitals have worked closely together for a number of years.
“During the six years, I have been personally involved I have been very impressed with the academic innovation and development shown by the university.
“It was an honour, therefore, to be offered the post of Visiting Professor – it was an easy decision to accept and I look forward very much to working with the team in the Centre for Research, Development and Workforce over the next few years.”
Mr Beattie is both a practising surgeon and a senior health care manager with expertise in the delivery of healthcare and service transformation.
