SCORES of students at a Bognor Regis school showcased their talents with a successful festive performance.
Pupils from Year 7 to Year 13 at The Regis School performed on stage to an audience of staff, students, parents, carers and friends as part of its performing arts Christmas celebration.
The event was organised and run by the school’s performing arts faculty and included a range of seasonal work.
This included dance, music and drama to the delight of those watching.
A school spokesman said: “From drama, there was a devised piece of theatre called Behind the scenes of a Christmas Show created and performed by the drama club and their sixth form leaders.”
A comedy nativity sketch by the Year 12 drama company and a pantomime based on the story of Cinderella, performed by the Year 13 theatre company completed the dramatic content of the evening.
“These lively performances got the audience participating, involved and feeling in the Christmas spirit,” said the spokesman.
Dance students contributed a beautiful and emotive piece to the Christmas ballard, The Power of Love, from the Signature Elite members of the school’s dance club, choreographed by student leaders.
The spokesman said: “This was followed later by the Year 9 dance class, who contributed a lively and cultural carnival-style piece entitled, A Brazilian Celebration, to get everyone in the party mood.”
On the music side of the evening, the school’s choir performed two pieces – Somewhere only we know – as well as a blended version of Winter Wonderland and Santa Comes To Town.
“The sixth form musicians prepared and performed lovely covers of well-known Christmas numbers, Last Christmas, and Step into Christmas.”
The spokesman added: “A huge well done to all student performers as well as student leaders who were involved in creating what was a lovely festive evening. Thank you also to everyone who came along.”
