CUSTOMERS at the Tesco store in Bognor Regis are being asked to put a little extra in their baskets for those in need this Christmas.
The Shripney Road outlet is taking part in the annual collection for the town’s foodbank.
The foodbank’s helpers are present during this weekend to receive donations for emergency food parcels for families and individuals.
Donations by the public will be topped up by 20 per cent by Tesco.
The foodbank is part of the network run by the Trussell Trust. Its chief executive, Emma Revie, said: “Foodbanks across the country will be doing all they can to provide the best possible emergency support so people don’t go hungry.
“But, to make sure we’re prepared for what could be our busiest December yet, our network needs your support.
“During every food collection, we’ve been humbled by the staggering generosity of Tesco customers, store colleagues and volunteers.”
Tesco UK and Ireland chief executive Jason Tarry said: “We know the items our customers donate can make a real difference to people who really need that little bit of extra help this year.”
