Home welcomes Teaspoon for some special Christmas cheer

TEASPOON the Elf served up a festive treat at a Bognor Regis care home.

The mischievous visitor ensured the 26 individuals in Normanton Lodge well and truly got into the Christmas spirit.

Teaspoon, whose name is Dan Lovett, said: “It’s going to be a performance of sorts. We’re going to be passing the parcel, leading craft activities and other fun things to bring the spirit and cheer of Christmas to the residents.”

His visit was just one aspect of the Elf Day on Friday arranged by newly appointed manager, Penelope Tyau.

Jive dancers and Year 2 Chichester College students added to the fun. Some key professionals in the community also called in. Pagham United Reformed Church’s advocate for the elderly, Janet Hopewell, was another person invited to the Normanton Avenue premises.

Ms Tyau said: “This is a good way to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society and also for the residents, some of whom have dementia, to have some fun.

“I’ve planned to hold more events which involve the community. I think it’s important we integrate ourselves with it.”
