Audiences flew on a magical journey to Neverland at the New Theatre Royal with a magical and thrilling family show.
The story is a familiar one but at times the play felt slightly misdirected between a theatre show and a pantomime, confusing audiences slightly but not taking any magic away from the children in their seats.
The hisses and boos for Captain Hook were there, the magical noises for Tinkerbell and of course the clumsy slapstick with pirates and Mr Darling, but the familiar cries of “He’s over there behind you!” and the dame were both nowhere to be seen which may not have been a bad thing.
The audience could focus on the brilliant acting of Peter Pan, Wendy and Lily who could sing, dance and act impeccably.
There was huge delight on the children’s faces as magical props and scenes changed and brought the stage to life for the world of Neverland.
Peter Pan is an alternative to a pantomime and Christmas play with the perfect mix of both!
