ACTION is being taken to tackle the latest spate of anti-social behaviour in Bognor Regis town centre, police have pledged.
PCSO Katie Harsley told members of the town council and residents at Monday’s meeting the number of incidents had ‘increased quite significantly’ in the past year in the Hotham and Marine wards, which cover the area.
“There’s a lot of work going on behind the scenes with different agencies. Unfortunately, it is quite a huge process to collate that evidence,” she said.
“I would urge people not to report these incidents on social media. They should come directly to us.”
PCSO Harsley said that, as well as the efforts with Arun District Council’s anti-social behaviour team, and other agencies, extra patrols had taken place around the town.
Cllr Sandra Daniells said she feared vigilante action was being contemplated by some people. “People are told to keep reporting and reporting but they are getting very frustrated. They know who these kids are. They know what is happening,” she said.
Cllr Pat Dillon said sanctions against the young people were limited by law.
