NEW metalwork will be installed on Bognor Regis’ much-loved seafront bandstand thanks to a government grant.
The coastal revival fund will provide £50,000 for the Grade II listed structure.
The money will pay for the metalwork to complete the intricate railings and to move the gate to align with the steps on to the bandstand.
Arun District Council applied for the cash. Its cabinet member for technical services, Cllr Stephen Haymes, said: “The funding will kickstart a major refurbishment of this treasured heritage structure.
“The bandstand’s seafront location and historic nature means this is expensive work. But this is a big first step towards seeing the bandstand completely renovated.”
Later work will see the roof renovated and concrete floor and brick plinth replaced with better suited materials.
