A BOGNOR REGIS student is staging a variety show next month to help pay for an overseas trip to look after children.
Sophie Gilbert is putting on the special night at 6.30pm on March 2 at the Newtown Sports and Social Club in Greencourt Drive, North Bersted.
Proceeds from the show will go towards the £2,800 which Sophie needs to fund her summer of a lifetime later this year.
She was one of the Guides selected on one of the four international visits the movement has arranged for 2019.
Sophie will be spending three weeks in a kindergarten in Cordoba in Argentina with nine other Guides and three leaders.
She said: “I have already raised half of the money myself and plan to hold a variety show in March to help raise the rest of the funds.”
The care and community project in which Sophie, a Year 10 student at The Regis School, is taking part, has been arranged with the charity Projects Abroad.
“Our project will be based in a kindergarten, where we will be providing care for the children, supporting the teachers through educational, physical and creative abilities,” she said.
“We will also be undertaking renovation work on the classrooms to enhance the environment for the children. This will include tasks such as painting, building and maintenance.”
