ITS’S BEEN a running theme for the past two seasons. But it seems like, no matter how hard they try, Rocks are still suffering from injury woes.
What to do up front is now causing manager Jack Pearce the biggest headache.
The departure of on-loan Portsmouth striker Dan Smith to Cork City and injuries to Jimmy Wild and Jimmy Muitt means that Rocks are relying on Leon Maloney, the 17-year-old Pompey youth player.
At the other end of the pitch, there is positive news as both Calvin Davies and Keaton Wood returned to the starting line-up for the 4-0 loss against Haringey.
Pearce, who admitted both were “slightly off the pace”, said his concern was on the forward line.
He said: “We have got to try and sign a centre forward but everyone is looking to do that.
“If there’s one thing not readily available anywhere it is a centre forward scoring goals at our level
“You either have to discover one who is playing at a lower level or take a young player on loan. It’s likely to be the second of those but most probably we will have the same squad for tomorrow.”
