A MAN has been remanded in custody after being charged with attempted murder in Aldwick.

Akeem Adebayo, 23, a retail employee of Colindale Avenue, London, appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

He will next appear by video link at Portsmouth Crown Court on April 12. He has also been charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine. He has yet to enter a plea.

Another man, retired Ian Hemmens, 80, of Bognor Road, Chichester, has been charged with assisting an offender. He has been bailed to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on April 9.

The alleged stabbing took place in Marine Park Gardens on Sunday afternoon. The victim, a 28-year-old Bognor Regis man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his chest, arm and head.

His condition was said earlier this week to be stable.
