Still time to write a story

WRITERS have until the end of the month to enter Bognor Regis Write Club’s first short story competition.

Residents from Littlehampton to Emsworth are eligible. Initial information from the club mistakenly omitted some of the postcodes from which entries will be accepted.

Julia Macfarlane, who runs the club, said: “We realised the mistake within a couple of days and made the changes but it was a big ‘oops!’

“It is the first time we have run a short story competition. I just hope that’s our only mistake.”

The first prize is £100, with £50 for the runner-up and £25 for third place. The 20-25 short-listed writers will have their works printed in a book to be launched at the prize-giving ceremony this summer.

The competition is open to residents aged over 18 in the following postcodes: PO9, PO10, PO11, PO18, PO19, PO20, PO21 and PO22 as well as BN16, BN17 and BN18.

Full terms and conditions can be read at:

The club meets monthly at The Waverley in Bognor Regis and has a short waiting list for new members.

It offers feedback and support to those who are published or working towards publication, whether they are poets, short story writers or playwrights.
