Students will host Rox day

PARISIAN grandeur is being brought to life in Bognor Regis.

A team of event management students from the University of Chichester is staging the fun-filled day of entertainment in aid of the Rox music and arts charity.

The Rox Spectacular will take place in Hotham Park from 11am to 5pm on April 27 and will be based on the famous Moulin Rouge musical dance entertainment venue in Paris.

As well as the performances, a feast of world foods and local businesses will be present for visitors to enjoy.

One of the six students who are managing the free occasion for all the family is its health and safety manager, Kelly Klimaytys.

She said the day would be packed with musical talents, beautiful catering, a host of activities for children and local businesses to support.

“Over the last three years, everything we have done within our course leads up to this final event, Rox Spectacular.

“It’s been an amazing experience being able to work with lecturers who have been in the industry and for them to share their experience with us.

“Rox Spectacular has allowed our team of individuals to work together and learn from each other in so many different ways,” she said.

“I am excited to carry on with our preparations for our final event held in Hotham Park on April 27.”

The day will also provide chances to perform in keeping with the Rox mission to advance the education, awareness and appreciation of the arts and to provide a platform for artistes of all ages and skills to perform.

Students will use the lessons they learn from putting on the day for dissertations for their BA event management and marketing degrees. Their efforts are being overseen by lecturer Dr Wendy Sealy.

The day will be the latest joint project between students at the university and the Rox charity.

Rox representative Robin Parker said: “It’s great to be working with the Rox in the Park team again and they’re really trying to push the boat out this year.

“Their commitment to the event is admirable and I can’t fault them as Rox ambassadors.

“I’m looking forward to seeing an event full of colour, music and great family entertainment.

“So, why not get some Moulin Rouge costumes and join them or just come on down for the fun and the spectacle?”
