Three years ago, Heather Love decided to grow her hair until she could sit on it.
And until last Tuesday she could but now another girl will have the benefit of her long, brown locks once they have been made into a special wig.
Last Tuesday, Heather braved the scissors at Hayley’s New Look Salon in London Road, Bognor Regis, to be able to donate her long plait to the Princess Trust, a charity which provides wigs for children who have lost their hair through illness or medical treatment.
Before Hayley started cutting, Heather, who is 14, said: “I know how lovely it is to have long hair and to lose your hair must be heartbreaking.
“I just wanted to do something to help.”
Heather’s mum, Jennifer, is a trustee of Tyler’s Trust so the family, who live at Hook Lane, Bognor, is well aware of problems for families coping with cancer.
Once her hair was gone, the Felpham Community College student was all smiles and was looking forward to having hair which was easier to look after and more manageable for sports.
“But, I might grow it again,” she added.
