Church members shine cars to spread their message of love

Worshipers at a Bognor Regis church put in a polished performance to spread the word about their activities.

The some 40 members of the Grace Church congregation in the town delighted motorists with a free car wash.

The community event saw 48 vehicles, which ranged from a Transit van to a Porsche, given a good as new look in the three-and-a-half hour event.

Simon Taylor, the church’s operations manager, said: “The event was a big success. We had a good team who worked very well.

“We were able to raise awareness of what we are doing as a church in the local area and to remind people of God’s message.”

The car wash took place in the Phoenix Centre’s car park on the campus of The Regis School.

Drivers were offered the chance to have their vehicles washed for £1 – but those who accepted were told there was no charge.

The latest event was the third car wash to be staged by Grace Church in Bognor Regis. The others were in 2016 and 2018.

Its members have also staged community days with free food and free entertainment for everyone present.

“We want to bring the community together and have a relationship with them,” said Simon.

The church has some 130 members in Bognor Regis and 400 in all.
