With a flash, bang wallop, CAOS is back on the stage at the Alexandra Theatre in another popular musical theatre show.
The Chichester-based amateurs will be performing David Heneker’s ‘Half a Sixpence’, which was a hit at the city’s festival theatre in 2016, starring Charlie Stemp. Based on the 1905 novel ‘Kipps’ by HG Wells, ‘Half a Sixpence’ centres around Arthur Kipps, a young draper working in Folkestone, Kent.
Kipps, having been working class all of his life, comes into a fortune and has to decide which life to choose. The story is aided by two love interests, Helen and Ann, who both try to persuade him towards a different life with a different girl.
Following the well-received professional revival, Half a Sixpence is a timeless musical with a plethora of rousing numbers certain to get toes tapping. From ‘Flash Bang Wallop’ to the titular ‘Half a Sixpence’, this show has something for everyone.
Performances are at 7.30pm with a matinee at 2.30pm on Saturday.
