A Co-ordinator has been appointed to oversee work on a new community garden in Bognor Regis.
Matthew Guillaume’s arrival steps up the creation of the plot in the grounds of the town’s library in London Road.
The project is unique for the Aldingbourne Trust and links back to the charity’s horticultural beginnings in August, 1978.
Matthew said: “I’m passionate about gardening in an environmentally-friendly way, and about highlighting the health and wellbeing benefits of gardening and green spaces.
“These two themes are going to be central in how the project is managed, and how the garden itself is designed.”
The development of the community will be funded by grants secured by the trust. These include National Lottery Awards for All backing and £10,000 from Southern Water, pictured below is the celebration for the grant last year.
The trust will be looking for volunteers from Bognor Regis, including people connected to its work, to help to create the garden. More information will be given in the coming months about the project’s progress and how people can get involved.
The garden will be designed as a welcoming space whatever the weather and has the aim of improving lives and promoting water efficiency.
