One of the country’s leading hotel operators wants to open in Bognor Regis.
Travelodge has included the town in its wishlist of 26 seaside resorts in England and Wales.
It says the accommodation would entail a £6m investment in the town and create 25 jobs.
Tony O’Brien, the Travelodge UK development director, said: “There are significant regeneration and modernisation projects taking place in seaside towns and cities across the UK, and we have identified 26 coastal areas that could benefit from a Travelodge hotel.
“Bognor Regis is one of those key locations and we are kick-starting our expansion programme by writing to Bognor Regis Town Council to see if we can play a pivotal role in their regeneration programme like we have done in Rhyl.
“Investing in a low-cost hotel like Travelodge is an increasingly attractive choice, as it draws visitors, creates jobs and helps boost the local economy.”
The company’s research showed they spent double their room rate with surrounding businesses, he added.
Bognor Regis is seen as an ideal location because of its beaches and attractions, like Hotham Park.
