A MAN was in police custody yesterday on suspicion of an attempted rape in Bognor Regis.
The 23-year-old was arrested by police officers on Wednesday. He was being held for interview and further enquiries to take place during the investigation.
Detective Constable Katy Lewis, of Sussex Police’s West Sussex safeguarding investigations unit, said:

The alleged sexual assault took place in Hook Lane shortly after 10pm on August 1. The woman was said by police to have been walking along Shripney Road when she was approached by a man.
They talked for a short while and parted ways in Highfield Road. But the man was alleged to have caught up with her again in Hook Lane.
