A POTENTIAL plan to protect Aldwick is being considered by parish councillors.
They agreed at their meeting last week to hire a planning expert to advise them on compiling the area’s first neighbourhood plan.
This document would set out planning policies to ensure any development which took place met certain standards to fit in with the existing buildings.
It would need to be backed by residents in a poll and assessed by a planning inspector and Arun District Council before it took effect.
The consultant, Paul Collins, will also be asked to provide an estimate of the work required to update the village design statement.
Sue Batey, the parish council’s clerk, said: “We need to have a professional to tell us what is required.
“We don’t have major developments but we do have small-scale schemes in and around our existing development.
“It will be good to know how much it will cost.”
Mr Collins has recently completed a neighbourhood plan for Pagham Parish Council.
