Bognor RFC will be looking to keep up their winning start to the season when they host Havant IIs tomorrow (3pm).
The Purple and Greens made the best possible start to their Hampshire Premier campaign when they defeated Fordingbridge 27-18.
The bonus point victory means that Bognor are one of five teams to take maximum points from the opening weekend.
Tomorrow pitches them against the only side in the division yet to play when Havant’s second string make the short trip along the A27 to Hampshire Avenue.
The first team squad will be keen to try and better last season’s third place finish in the division while bringing through a number of those who are shining in the newly-formed academy.
The former Colts side made their last preparations before the start of their league campaign on Sunday at home to a strong Gosport and Fareham squad.
Both squads had 30+ players so four quarters of 20 minutes were played, allowing all players good game time.
The first quarter began badly as a Gosport went into the lead with the first play of the game.
Bognor worked their way into the game by securing set piece ball. Weller cut an excellent line to get over the gain line. Half backs Spurle and Gilbert-Jones moved the ball wide and number 8 Smith crashed over to tie things.
Both sides changed full personnel for the second quarter which ended up scoreless but showing much promise.
The final quarters saw Bognor begin to dominate both possession and territory.
Teasdale hit his targets in the lineout and Robinson began to find room out wide. Smart play from Barker and Masaki saw Smith charge over for his second try converted by Hickman.
Then Decarteret collected a clearance kick and skipped through to score before converting his own try to end the game.
This weekend, Bognor Greens travel to Ellingham & Ringwood while the Purples visit Eastleigh.
