PANTO-GOERS will be forgiven for seeing double at this year’s festive treat in Bognor Regis.
Two dogs have been chosen to play the important role of Toto in The Wizard of Oz at Christmas.
The doggie duo – of Taffy and Winnie – will share the role to ensure that neither one of them gets ‘dog tired’ during the run from December 11 to January 4 at the Alexandra Theatre.
Director Bev Berridge said: “I was hugely impressed with the standard of canine talent at the audition last Monday and it was a tricky decision to make.
“However, Taffy and Winnie just pipped the others to the post by combining the cute factor with first class on-stage discipline and professionalism – no puddles, nice with children and good at chasing wicked witches on cue.
“I predict great theatrical futures for both of them. My thanks to all the dogs and their owners who came along.”
The Wizard of Oz is set to continue the tradition of successful traditions at the theatre in the Regis Centre.
Its stars will be Kevin Short as The Wizard, Jamie Bannerman as The Lion (last seen as Abanazar in Aladdin) and Scottish duo Duo Lemetti and Mirren as The Scarecrow and Tin Man.
They will be performing a fun-packed show, with a production full of laughter, comedy and traditional pantomime nonsense.
