New benches at Bognor Regis Hospital are all thanks to a generous donation.

John Thomas Hawes donated a lot of money to various Bognor Regis charities, including the Saint Vincent dePaul Society. He wanted his legacy to be spent on the town’s residents.

Three benches were handed over to The Friends of Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital to provide additional bench space for the hospital.

Brian Knight, chairman of Friends of Bognor Hospital, said: “The Friends are delighted to have received the new benches which are outside the out-patients department.

“They are replacing three old ones that had seen the end of their life. The new ones are recycled plastic and need no maintenance except a wash with hot soapy water.

“Long may they stay and enhance the lives of countless patients and visitors.”

The presentation of the new benches took place on Thursday, November 7.
