Generous Bognor Regis residents have continued to support the annual Poppy Appeal.
The town’s appeal organiser, John Haynes, said he had been delighted by the response to the fundraiser for the Royal British Legion.
“It’s been a very good year. I have been pleasantly surprised by the positive reaction we have had. It has encouraged me to stay on for another year,” he said.
Mr Haynes finished his collecting at this year’s Remembrance Sunday service in the town. Some of those who attended took the chance to make donations to the appeal.
The response to the appeal comes after the widespread focus last year on the centenary of the end of the First World War.
“We have had a very busy time again this year,” said Mr Haynes. “The people of Bognor Regis have been very generous again.”
He said his only regret about the two weeks of fundraising was the continued need for more volunteers.
“I had 22 volunteers this year but I could always do with more. Anyone interested in helping in 2020 should phone me on 07977 536686,” he added.
