Housing is set to replace horses on a Yapton field.
Pibworth Holdings has been given outline planning permission for the homes by Arun District Council.
The site of the proposed housing is a large grassed field used for the grazing of horses.
Simon Davis, a council planning officer, says in his report about the decision that Yapton Parish Council had backed the application.
Parish councillors had allocated the site on land north of Yapton CE Primary School for development in its neighbourhood plan.
“The proposed development is to cover a larger area than was originally agreed by the neighbourhood plan,” states Mr Davis. However, the inspector who examined the neighbourhood plan gave a clear steer as to the acceptability of the westward extension of the site.
“Furthermore, the proposal only actually seeks consent for three more dwellings than the number stated in the neighbourhood plan.”
A previous housing site for the site in 2015 also gained outline backing.
