Making Your Mark
January 15 and January 21
Bognor Regis and Selsey
Free ukulele tuition is returning to Bognor Regis this year and expanding into Selsey.
The Making Your Mark sessions are re-starting next week to continue a run since June 2018 at Bognor Youth and Community Centre, pictured above.
Their popular mix of free tutorials and performance opportunities for everyone is also about to begin in Selsey.
The ukulele programme forms part of the annual Southdowns Folk Festival in Bognor Regis, thanks to financial support from the Sussex Community Foundation.
Roger Nash, who founded the current folk festival, said: “We have been delighted with the continued success of this programme.
“The first Bognor Regis session for 2020 takes place at 10.30am on Wednesday, January 15, at the youth and community centre in Westloats Lane. Then, new for 2020, Making Your Mark expands into Selsey with the first session happening at 10.30am on Tuesday, January 21, at The Selsey Club in Coxes Road.”
One of the tutors at the Selsey sessions, Selsey Folk and Music Club member John Bradley, said: “It’s really good that Making Your Mark is coming to Selsey.
“I know there are a lot of local people who are looking forward to taking part in something which is not only enjoyable but (in which they) can develop new skills and new opportunities over the next few months.”
Making Your Mark has proved to be a valuable way of helping to combat social isolation among its older participants.
